With most of the dinosaurs in this story, there are clear parallels with creatures in our own world. Velociraptors are like wolves. Tyrannosaurus is like a lion or bear. The ceratopians are the bulls and buffalo, while the dainty thescelosaurs are like dear. There is no modern equivalent, however, for the pterosaurs. Human beings have never known a flying animal large enough to ride on. This leaves us with exciting possibilities for a fantasy featuring pteranodons. Expect much more of them, especially in the final book of the series. In the first book, they make one appearance, though it is an exciting one. They soar to the rescue as the city is besieged.
