Among my favorite dinosaurs are the trio of duckbilled hadrosaurs: corythosaurus (with a disk-shaped crest on its head), lambeosaurus (with a hatchet-shaped crest), and the parasaurolophus (with a tube-shaped crest). The lophus is the best known, but to me, the most elegant is the coryth, which I selected to draw the coach that carries Ivanno, Evran and Radan back north. Originally, there was a team of two coryths, but when I started this illustration, I realizes just how over-powered that coach would've been.

Also in this illustration is the first ogre I’ve depicted (Ontalu, driving the coach), though I had them planned and designed from the beginning. Ordoran is the gentleman leaping from the coach. The ghost I will leave unnamed for now. The shrubs around them are young monkey puzzles, a strange evergreen that now grows only in South America, but was common in the Cretaceous. I was at first reluctant to call them monkey puzzles in the text, as I didn’t want to suggest that there were monkeys back then, just as I hated to refer to horsetails. But there is no other name for this little tree—it’s just a monkey puzzle.
